PRESS: Russia’s MOESK seeks to manage SU-155 power grids

MOSCOW, Oct 26 (PRIME) -- The Moscow United Electric Grid Company (MOESK) seeks to receive power grid assets of construction company SU-155, which is undergoing bankruptcy proceedings, in the Moscow Region city of Krasnogorsk into management, Kommersant business daily reported Wednesday.

MOESK initially planned to buy these assets for 251.5 million rubles as part of consolidation of power grids in Moscow and the Moscow Region, but the deal failed after a procedure to bail out SU-155 was launched and the company’s power grid property was arrested.

Technically SU-155 is still responsible for servicing power grids, but MOESK is concerned with the situation of power supplies in the district, saying a half of power transmission lines are switched off now either for damages or for power supplies without contracts.

MOESK said it offered to take the power grids into its management, but its proposals were rejected by bank Rossiysky Capital, an agent to bail out SU-155. A spokesperson for Rossiysky Capital said there were no disruptions in power supplies to end consumers, while MOESK and SU-155 are studying accident-free exploitation of grids either on lease or sale terms.
